Program Policies

When registering your child for a Mad Science program, please be aware of the following policies which are designed to answer common questions and ensure a safe and rewarding experience with our program.

  • All supplies and materials are included in the class fee for registrations secured directly through our website.  At partner organizations, such as Park & Recreation Departments and Community Services Departments, a separate materials fee may apply.  
  • Students will be grouped by similar grade if more than one class is offered. Standard class sizes range from 15 to 20.
  • This is a Mad Science Program. Any questions or issues should be directed to Mad Science and not the school or site organization.
  • We will attempt to contact you via email prior to the start of the program to confirm your child’s registration and inform you of the meeting location at the school. Please call us if you do not receive this email before the first day of class.
  • Mad Science does not pick up the children from their regular school classrooms to go to Mad Science. Children must walk themselves to our class. If you have a young child and are concerned that they may not know where to go or may forget, please inform their regular teacher and he/she may decide to remind them weekly. If your child has other classmates attending Mad Science, they can walk over together.
  • Mad Science is not responsible to ensure that your child attends our program and is not responsible for students who do not show up at our class. Please coordinate schedules with your student and create reminders where necessary to ensure attendance.
  • When registering your child you must indicate the method of release you wish us to use.  The choices in our online system are “Day Care”(on-site), “Walk”(released at the door to walk to the parking lot or directly home), and “Picked Up By”(signed out at the classroom).  For the “Picked Up By” option please list the names of all adults who will regularly sign out your child.   
  • Safety is a top priority with Mad Science.  However, Mad Science is not responsible for the children after they are released. If you will be picking up your child after the Mad Science class, please meet them at the classroom and sign them out. And please be on time - a late fee may be charged for late pick-ups.  If you want your child to walk out to the parking lot, then please select the "Walk" dismissal option.
  • If a school minimum day is scheduled after the program begins, typically class will not be held that day.  If a Skip Day is caused by a school programming change, a make-up day will be added to the end of the session automatically.
  • A $25 fee will be charged for checks that are returned unpaid.
  • A $10 fee applies to registrations booked after the indicated Early Bird deadline (typically 1 week prior to the first day of class).
  • Refund requests made before the start of the program are subject to a $25 processing fee and will be granted only if requested a minimum of two weeks prior to program start.
